Inspired by our success with the Santa Fe City Council to pass a resolution objecting to the construction of a Modern Pit Facility anywhere, CCNS has undertaken an effort to have similar resolutions considered elsewhere. We hope to draw national attention to the MPF, a project that would have severe consequences on national and global peace and security, as well as the health and environmental well being of the communities in which it may be constructed. Below is the letter that CCNS has mailed to various City Council representatives around the nation, as well as a list of cities that CCNS has contacted about such a resolution. Please feel free to distribute and share this list your local government. If you choose to help CCNS with this initiative, please inform us at mpf@nuclearactive.org or (505) 986-1973, so that we may be in a position to help networking efforts in your area.
It is imperative that we voice our opposition to a facility that will certainly have adverse consequences on the health, safety, security and environmental well being of the entire nation. Such resolutions will certainly carry America's voice to the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration, the United States Congress, and the Bush Administration, which is unilaterally implementing new and regressive nuclear weapons policies.
