future of NM

NM is my home and I am not convinced that the DOE is correct in its claims that it they are providing America with an opportunity to clean-up nuclear wastes Cold War Era. Right now we may only have a few barrells of contaminants within the rock salt beds at WIPP, but it is quite clear on the DOE's plan to put an excessive amount of waste under ground. What is this I understand-70% of the WIPP facility is for future disposal. I'm sorry DOE, but as long as you provide our country with nuclear weapons, you are just fooling yourselves-you are not just innocently closing the Cold War Era. Stop nuclear weapon production within this country. No one knows the future of the WIPP location to have that much faith in its success. Yes, it would make America a safer place if nuclear weapons production was seized, but what next? Where after WIPP? Power to the people and I'll be there soon to ensure that we know exacly what kinds of waste the DOE is pawning off on NM's precious landscape. That's right-I'm a radical environmental idealist. Why should we accept this plant on the claim it is for the good of US citizens if indeed nuclear waste continues to be generated. Anyway, I have so much to say about the issue. To all those supporting the road block on 4/27/99 stand your ground! Its typical for the government to fool the public, but you know that. If they can't be honest about the contents of the waste at this stage in the game- then they will never be. It is our job to question their authority and live up to our potential with truth. Send your responses to my mix up jumbled up thoughts on the issue. I would love to clarify my position.
