Good question Mr. Fuge. The technology does not exist at this point in time to successfully isolate tis lethal waste from the accessible environment. If the waste could be isolated at the WIPP, the facility might already be open. Think about all of the advances and break-throughs in technology in rcn years. What we must do is keep the waste in monitored retrievable storage until we know how to dispose of it safely. Personally I believe that the solutions will come when we have veered from the dangerous course of the design and development of thermonuclear weapons of mass destruction.
